Wikipedia, an amazing world-wide collaboration project
Based on her experience, as an editor at Wikipedia since 2002, as former Chair of the board of Trustees of Wikimedia Foundation (the charity hosting Wikipedia), and as current board member of Wikimedia France in charge of fundraising, Florence will tell you anything you want to know about the Wikipedia project (its editing process, the Wikipedia community, online collaboration, the governance structure, free knowledge and free culture, and much more), the Wikimedia Foundation (its business model, its growth, legal strategy of a open source open access project, management of frequent communication crisis, dealing with volunteers, dealing with diversity, non profit governance) and the other Wikimedia project (wikibooks, wikisource etc.)

Adopt a wiki
A wiki is a website that allows the easy creation and editing of any number of interlinked Web pages, using a simplified language directly within the browser. They are typically used to create collaborative websites, to power community websites, for personal note taking, in corporate intranets, and in knowledge management systems. Wikipedia is based on a wiki.
Whilst setting up a wiki is a pretty easy task of a developper, really running a wiki to improve productivity and collaboration within an organization is not such an easy task.

Grow online communities
An online community is a group of people that primarily interact via a communication and information system based on a computer network, such as newsletters, email, internet social network service or instant messages rather than face to face, for social, professional, educational or other purposes. But more than simply communicating, virtual communities form “when people carry on public discussions long enough, with sufficient human feeling, to form webs of personal relationships”. Participants share a common interest, idea, task, or goal, across time, geographical and organizational bounderies.
The embedding of virtual community in the experiences of everyday life and its reflection of and influence on the communication practices and patterns of identity formation make online community a colossal research enterprise which requires continuous investigation and theorizing.
